Title: Great intermediate-easy arrangements

Review: This was the perfect difficulty level for me (slowly self-teaching for a year). Beautiful arrangements, and it’s easy enough to look up the Japanese names of the films on Wikipedia and figure out which song is which (there’s almost no English text in this book, as others have mentioned). The great songs from Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, et al. are all here.

Title: wonderful piano book for a novice like me

Review: I'm an adult who is teaching myself to play the piano (going on 3 years), and I've been a fan of Joe Hisaishi's music for some time now. The music is simple and I can sight-read most of the songs without much trouble. The majority of the songs are written in C major or A minor (no flats or sharps). All of my favorites are here: "On a Sunny Day" and "Town with an Ocean View" from Kiki's Delivery Service, the "My Neighbor Totoro" theme, and "Sometimes Old Stories" from Porco Rosso. To be honest, they're all really great! The melodies are catchy and beautiful. I used Google translate to figure out all of the song and movie titles.

Review: Understand that this music book is only in Japanese with no translation. I thought it would at least translate the titles but it doesn't. I had to play each song to my student to see if they recognized the song. It would have been helpful that it showed an actual page of a song.

Review: This beginners piano song book has a good sampling of many Studio Ghibli favs. Only problem- I didn’t read well enough and this book is in Japanese. My daughter doesn’t read Japanese but is teaching herself Japanese so w as noted to keep it. I can’t rate it lower due to my lack of attention to the fine print. I’ll be looking for the same book with English lyrics.
