Title: The only textbook on diabetes out there!

Review: This textbook is a comprehensive review of everything we know about diabetes, up to the date of publication in 2004. Of course many things have changed since then, including diagnostic criteria for diabetes and guidelines for treatment issued by the ADA. This textbook though, reviews in a unique way a huge amount of literature regarding every aspect of diabetes. It starts with basic concepts regarding the anatomy, biochemistry and physiology of the pancreas, insulin, glucagon, GLP-1 and much more. It then moves to pathophysiology, the diagnostic approach and in the final part it reviews the management strategies in all types of diabetes. What is amazing is that this book features a series of world renown experts putting down to its thousands of pages their wisdom, and all the evidence available regarding one of the greatest health problems of our time.
The only question I would ask regarding this book, is who should read it.
My understanding of the answer would be:
1. Any endocrinologist, diabetes specialist, or primary care physician with a special interest in diabetes.
2. Anybody who wishes to conduct basic or clinical research in diabetes or glucose metabolism.
3. Any health care professional who wants to know it all about this disease.
As a final comment, I am dying to see the new edition...
